2009 Vacation and visit with Our New Granddaughters
The East Coast Swing
Well after spending a wonderful week on the West coast in California visiting Andrea, Chris and our new Granddaughter Delaney, we headed East to visit Melissa on the first stop of a 2 week of a much needed 2 week vacation.
We made quite a few side trips to historic destinations. You can never get to much of history. One of our stops was the Roosevelt Mansion or compound, which ever you wanted to call it. Massive home and stable, 9 hole reversible golf course and a separate Play house which today would be the on par with a 300 dollar home.

Van Buren Mansion
Our next stop was the home of Martin Van Buren. The home was doubled in size when his son moved in with him after he left office. Most of the furnishing in the house are replicas except for the ones that residence had found out belonged to him. They were returned by their owners to add to the history of the building.
Saugerties NY
Dorothy and I have this desire to visit any Lighthouse we encounter on our trips. This one was in Saugerties NY. It is a Bed and Breakfast. You can take in anything you want but if you take it in you must also take it out, and it is a mile hike to the lighthouse.
New York --- New York
Once the historic end of the first week was over we were surprised by a wonderful pre-birthday present from Melissa, a trip to Broadway to see a play, 9 to 5 starring Allison Janey. It was fantastic. I only wish I could have taken pictures in the theater, but the trip the was beautiful.
Week 2 in Maryland
After we spent the week with Melissa we headed out to Maryland to assist Becky and Tim with our new Grand Daughters any way we could. And to see Maggie (Margaret) and Isabelle (Izzy) for the first time. I have resigned myself that i am going to have all girls as Grandchildren bit believe when I say this they are all beautiful and i wouldn't want any others ----- unless they are new ones.
