SEASONS OF CHANGE

At long last it looks like we have finally broke the back of a very long and unusal winter.  Unfortunately, it looks like we went right past spring.  Dorothy and I were sure glad to see the flowers starting to break through the ground.  Going directly to warm weather though made the garden take hold very very quickly.

These photos were taken near the end of April.  Shortly after that the Midwest floods hit our area with an abundance of precipitation.  It wasn't long before more and more of the flowers appeared.  I do love to see the beauty of my flower garden early in the spring before the weeds takeover.

Beautiful when it blooms in the Spring, but real dirty as it loses it blossoms for the next week or two

About three weeks ago, Dorothy and I decided that we would start trying to do some walking, at least once a week on Sundays.   The first week was a mile, the second week 4 miles and just this past weekend we took a trip up to the Horicon Marsh where we took a 1 hour nature boat ride into the marsh. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of wildlife to see.  It is the largest marsh in the United States.  We also took a two and one half mile walk around a very small section of the marsh.  We are going to try to keep this up for the remainder of the summer.  Where we are headed this coming weekend is undecided at this time.

These were two of the wildest birds we saw there.
